Beauty: My make up & hair essentials

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!

I really have a “go to” look. When I find products that work well with my skin, my skin tone and my hair, I basically stick to them. Of course I like to try new things, but if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! That way you can never go wrong.

This look is my all time favourite. It is basic, with a touch of glamour because of the very subtle cat eye and the highlighter in the inner corners of the eyes. If you want to know my make up & hair essentials and what products I used, keep on reading!

Make up for this look

For this look I used my first foundation ever! I know it’s hard to believe that I’m not wearing foundation in posts before this, but it’s true! I just do not like foundation on my face. I really don’t believe it makes the skin look better. I find that it removes the natural glow and you just cover that all up with product. However, I recently bought my first foundation and I must say…I’m liking it! It is a very thin liquid and blends well with the skin. It is not too thick, so some of the natural skin can peek through the foundation. I’m not planning on wearing this everyday, but for special occasions it might be nice to do a little extra with my make up. Below I have a list of all the make up I used for this look.

Products are mentioned in the order I put them on my face. I know a YouTube video would be easier, but I´m not about that life at this point 🙂

*Foundation: Chanel Perfection Lumière in 70 Beige
*Concealer: Maybelline Super Stay 24h in 3 Medium/Beige Fonce
*Mattifying powder: Catrice Prime and Fine in 010 Translucent (not in the picture, I use this only under my eyes and a little bit on the bridge of my nose to set the concealer).
*Bronzer: Guerlain Terracotta in 02
*Blush: Chanel Joues Contraste powder blush in 71 Malice
*Eyeliner: L’Oreal Paris Super Liner Perfect Slim in Intense Black
*Mascara: Estée Lauder Sumptuous in 01 Black
*Highlight inner eye corners: Essence Longlasting eye pencil in 22 Ms Moneypenny
*Highlight cheekbones: L’Oreal Paris Bronzing shimmer trio powder for blondes in 201 Blonde Harmony (not in the picture, I use this on my cheekbones, tip of the nose, cupid´s bow and chin. There are 3 colors, light, pink & bronze, I used light).
*Lips: Vaseline as a base and on top L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Matte in 640 Erotique

Hair products for this look

I have naturally curly hair. This makes finding the right products for my hair a real task. I have been searching for years and years for products to use when I want to wear my hair naturally curly, products to use when I want to straighten it or products to use when I want to use a hot curling tool. I can honestly say that I´m still not there. My hair gets frizzy really easy and the texture is curly, but thin. So if I put too much product in, my hair gets too heavy, if I put too little, my hair gets too frizzy and I can just go on with this hair story. For this look I´ve been using the same products for a while and it´s working pretty good so far. I do have to say that this was a really good hair day! Below I have a list of the hair products I used for this look.

Products are mentioned in the order I put them in my hair.

*Argan Oil: After I wash my hair with a shampoo and conditioner I dry my hair a little with a t-shirt. The t-shirt instead of a towel helps prevent frizz. Then I take a medium amount of argan oil and apply this to my entire hair. The argan oil helps restore shine and softness and strengthens the hair. It also helps to protect from styling heat.
*John Frieda Frizz Ease: After my hair is dry and I curled it with a curling wand I apply a little amount of the Frizz Ease touch-up crème to my hair. I don´t massage this into the entire hair, mostly on the outside of the hair where it frizzes, the hairline and the ends.
*L’Oreal Paris Elnett Satin Fixation: Lastly I apply some hairspray to maintain the curls and volume of the hair.

And then the look is finished! Hope you liked it!
